It all depends your body, but on average a medusa can take 3-4 months to heal. The swelling depends on how well you care for it after it is initially pierced. If you care for it correctly and clean it regularly, the swelling should go down within a few days.

Can you put a small stud in when you get your medusa pierced?

All initial lip piercings have to have a titanium 1.2 x 10 mm stud ( it's about the size of a small pea) then after two weeks the piercer should change it to a smaller stud or gem depending on swelling and healing :D

How long does it take for the swelling to go down on my spiderbite piercings?

Well your piercer should have told you how long the swelling would take to go down, as well as having provided you with written aftercare instructions. I need to telly you that the piercing you have will reject (you should have been told that as well). Hand web piercings never stay and always reject. There should be no actual swelling, if there is there could be a serious problem with how the piercing was done. Contact your piercer.

Is there a home remedy to heal swelling from lip piercings?

Yes it's called ICE, you should have written aftercare instructions for the care of your piercing and what to do to control swelling. If you dont have instructions then contact your piercer and ask for them, unless this was a DIY piercing then you are on your own.

What do you do if a new piercing is swollen?

visit your ear piercing salon where you got it pierced and if they can't do anything to help then they will refer you to your GP so visit your doctor and he/she will tell you what to do. Swelling is not uncommon with some piercings, this can be due to the type of piercing and the location of the piercing. Oral piercings around the mouth will swell this is due to the nature of the tissue that was pierced. Eyebrow piercings can swell and even bruise, this is not uncommon again due to the nature of the tissue being pierced. Your aftercare guide should instruct you on how to treat localized swelling for the piercing you have. Ultimately if you are in doubt if the swelling is normal go back and see your piercer.

Is getting a tongue piercing a good idea?

Well getting a tongue piercing should be up to you, it's your body and your decision. You need to ask yourself if it's something you want and if so are you ready to go through the healing time and the swelling and discomfort in order to get it. Oral piercings are serious piercings and should never be taken lightly, there are risks and all these need to be discussed with your professional body piercer before you commit to getting the piercing. Talk to your piercer before you decide, that's what they are there for, ask questions and get answers that make sense to you.

If you intend on keeping the piercings, jewellery should be left in the piercings, there is no reason to remove the jewellery except to get rid of the piercings. Piercings can take a full year to become seasoned to the point where jewellery can be removed for extended periods.
