Athlete's foot is an infectious condition caused by a parasitic fungus; it is typically transmitted in moist environments where people walk barefoot, e.g., showers, Swimming Pools, and changing rooms.

It can also be transmitted by sharing footwear with an infected person, and by sharing towels, although this is less common.
by being in a wet moist place that can cause your skin to peel and get earatated.

Look at the symptoms:

It causes you to develop a rash, usually in the space between your toes. The rash can cause your skin to be itchy, scaly, flaky, dry and red. Other symptoms are cracked skin, blisters which my be oozing or crusting, swelling of the skin, a burning or stinging sensation in your skin, scaling patterns around your sole and on the side of your foot.
