Is it ok to dislike your child?

If you are a parent and you have a rebellious child, or a child that constantly gets in trouble, you may find yourself getting angry and exasperated. But deep down, do you really dislikethem, or are you just fed up? Maybe you should look at your parenting and see if it's your fault your child is how they are, which makes you dislike them. If it has to do with disobediance, get parental counseling. If they are going through a phase you don't like, (as long as they aren't doing something wrong like smoking, drinking,etc.) let them express their feelings while trying to understand why they're behaving like this and how you can help them stop. If you dislike your child just because they are alive, you need to seriously think about it. Was their birth unexpected? Were you not prepared? Do they have a physical/mental problem? If so, again, get counseling and work through your problems. Your child needs a loving parent. It's not their fault that happened to them. Show support and help them.Do you dislike them because they have a different religion? As long as, again, it's not some horrible cult, talk to them about what you believe, but don't force them out of their beliefs or they'll definitely not want to believe yours. No one can be forcedto believe anything. This is to ANY parent, I can't give you 'right on' advice. But if one of the reasons you don't like your child is here, think about what I've said. It really isn't okay to not like your child. Everyone needs loving parents. Maybe you should talk to them, find activities you both like and have bonding time. Maybe not all I've said is correct, but I believe most people would say, no, you shouldn't dislike them and if you REALLY can't likethem, then at least bear with them and continue to show parental support. It would be better to dislike what your child does (or a behavior he or she has) than to dislike your child. Can you dislike your child, and yet still love him or her?
