Assess the situation. You can gain two very important pieces of information from this history, mainly...
* She is still concious * She is coughing, if you can hear coughs or any sort of sound, that mean the airway is still patent, even if only partially. Get her to bend over a chair and hit forcefully with an open palm of the hand between the shoulder bone. If this does not resolve after three strikes, call an ambulance.
Do the Heimlich Maneuver (abdominal thrusts). The kid will 'spit' out the meat or whatever he/she's chocking on.
Conscious choking.
bloody cut it out
Because there is a risk of a child choking.
If it is a baby, you place them on your arm, face down and give them five backslaps. You check after each slap to see if the object has dislodged from the mouth.
begin cycles of 5 back slaps, followed by 5 chest thrustsThe best action to relieve severe choking in a responsive infant is to begin five cycles of abdominal thrusts. Use five cycles of back slaps along with the abdominal thrusts. If the object the child is choking on can be seen, attempt to remove it. Do not poke at the object blindly because the object could be shoved farther down the child's throat. If the child is coughing, let them cough it out. If coughing is ineffective, support the child in head-downwards position without compressing the soft tissues under the jaw. Administer one to five sharp blows in-between the child's shoulder blades (or middle of its back) with the heel of one hand. If the child is not choking on any object, it could be suffering an allergic reaction; seek medical attention immediately.

You should take your child to the doctor for a cough if it lasts for more than a week, is accompanied by a high fever, difficulty breathing, or if your child is wheezing or coughing up blood.
If a child is choking you must not panic and you must give the child any liquids to make the stuff that's making your child choking. Make sure nothing is in his or her mouth and then call a near grown up to take over,If you happen to be the grown up and don't know what to do call 911.
There is no reason why a normal child, with the ability to chew, should not be able to eat a pistachio nut. Care of course should be taken with small infants due to the danger of choking.
so that the child can see what is happening
Abdominal thrusts are not used any more for unconscious choking. Perform chest compressions just like in CPR instead of abdominal thrusts.
