There are 3 levels of EMT. There is the EMT-Basic, the EMT-Intermediate (advanced EMT), and the EMT-Paramedic. EMT classes are offered at technical schools and some colleges. Prices range from roughly $650.00 for EMT-Basic (5 months long); $800.00 for EMT-Intermediate (about 8 months long); $3500.00 for EMT-Paramedic (range from 10 months long to 18 months long). If you choose Paramedic, prepare yourself for MANY hours of clinical education - roughly 425 hours
I paid $380 for my EMT-B course in Texas. If you are a resident of Texas, you can use PERCOM for all EMT courses as well as First Responder.
As a representative of PERCOM I will update and correct this. Percom accepts students globally. Students at the EMT level or higher must travel to Texas for their "hands on" skills training and clinical rotations. All other training is done in the online environment. Percom currently offers courses in EMT Basic, EMT Intermediate, EMS Instructor and First Responder. All EMT courses are offered online. I have added a link to our pricing page.
Good Luck ALL
Yes. Get GED & then become an EMT. After 2000 hrs as an emt you can qualify for paramedic.
You have to take a paramedic test but you have to go to some sort of school before. You will have to take an evaluation test before you do and then take the course to practice.
Go to school. Become a Paramedic PHRN. Get experience and apply. Tough job to get.
You can find out about paramedic school from two places. One is to interview a paramedic and ask them about the training they undertook which gives you a first hand experience. Second is go to the college and get a prospectus which will provide you with all the information on the course and what the students will need to get in. The final thing to remind the students is that they need to finish high school for a career like this in medicine.
paramedictrainingcenter.net can also help you find a school in your area and they also offer a great deal of information to look over all about the requirements for being a paramedic, what kind of training you will need and information about the NREMT exam.
