Not in all situations. Most meninges based tumors can be studied via the MRI or CTScan and can be determined by a doctor. I would recommend it 100% though.
It depends on what the problem with the elbow is. If it is a bone related injury then the CT scan will show more detail but if the problem is with the muscles or ligaments, then the MRI Scan will be more useful.
MRI Scanners are able to image soft tissues with much more detail than other imaging options. The MRI is able to differentiate between different types of tissue such as fat, muscle, tendon, nerve, abscess, water and blood. Since most pathologies consist of soft tissues, the MRI does give a better image most of the time.
X-ray is a much better tool for locating metallic items.
My son's MRI impression reads -MRI scans features s/o periventricular leukomalacia. The Neurologist told me it is a scar of brain. I want more explanation on this regard. While my son was under going treatment for ALL, he had high fever due to infection. One night he had convulsion followed by coma. The doctors told me he had no chance of survival since he had brain remarriage .It was their fault because instead of giving him platelates prescribed by the relived doctor, the reliver doctor had given him plasma. CTscan could not be done at that time because my son had allergic to a tranqualiser.He was two yrs old. Since he is having petit mal now at the age of 15,we consulted a Neurologist who advised for MRI and EEG.

As we know,Clarity of the image is decided by its Spatial Resolution but not by Pixel Resolution. CT have high Spatial Resolution but MRI have comparable Spatial Resolution to CT&far better Contrast Resolution than CT-So,MRI is the BEST to demonstrate Anatomy,especially in parts containing more soft tissue[Eg:Brain]&CT is the BEST to demonstrate Bony Anatomy.
