The first semi-specialized dental x-ray machine in America was made by the Victor Electric Company out of Chicago in 1913. Victor first advertised the unit in the April 1913 edition of Oral Hygiene. Victor later merged with GE. The unit was a modified medical x-ray. The first specialized dental x-ray was produced by the the Edwards Instrument Company out of Indianapolis. The Edwards unit may even predate the Victor x-ray but I haven't been able to confirm it. Edwards Instrument became Edwards X-Ray Corp in 1919.

The Vulcan Coil Company based in L.A. had a specialized unit in 1915. Several manufacturers followed by 1916.
