Prof. Dr. Sunil Kumar Joshi is a medical doctor (MD) specialized in General medicine, Occupational Medicine, Diabetology, and PhD in Public Health. Dr. Sunil Kumar Joshi has received prestigious Swedish Research Council Postdoctoral Fellowship at the European Centre of Gender Excellence, Sweden.

Currently, Dr. Joshi is working as a Professor of Community Medicine and Coordinator for the National and International Collaborations at Kathmandu Medical College (KMC), Kathmandu University, Nepal.

He heads many international research projects in Nepal. Currently, he is the local principal investigator for the GLOBVAC Project on Domestic Violence, funded by Norwegian Research Council.

He is also working as Adjunct Faculty of Public Health at Kent State University College of Public Health, USA. He has supervised Master and Doctoral students from different foreign universities such as University of Tokyo, Japan, Yale University, USA, Stony Brook School of Medicine, USA, Norwegian University of Science & Technology, Norway, Linkoping University, Sweden; University of Oslo, Norway.

He is involved in injuries, violence and disabilities prevention activities in Nepal since 2006 as a National Consultant for World Health Organization and Ministry of Health and Population.

He has drafted the National Policies and Strategies for prevention and control of violence, injuries and disabilities for the Government of Nepal. He serves as member for several national and international scientific committees. He has authored more than 50 scientific publications and has been appointed as Chief Editor and Editor for numerous international peer reviewed scientific journals. He is recipient of many National and International prestigious health research grants

He is the recipient of Certificate of Appreciation for outstanding contribution in Medical Education in Nepal in 2009, Nepal Vidya Bhushan "A" in 2010 from HE the President of Nepal, Lions Club International President's a Beacon of Hope Letter of Commendation, 2011, and "Creative Genius Award" from GLOBVAC Project, ADVANCE Study Team, Norwegian University of Science and Technology/ London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine/ Johns Hopkins School of Public Health in 2014.
