Code P1646 typically refers to an issue related to the Engine Control Module (ECM) or Powertrain Control Module (PCM) in a vehicle. It indicates a problem with the communication between the ECM and other modules, often due to wiring issues, poor connections, or sensor malfunctions. This can lead to various performance issues and may trigger the check engine light. To resolve it, a thorough diagnostic check of the wiring and related components is recommended.

Trouble code P1646 means: Linear O2 Sensor Control Chip (Bank 1)
Trouble code P1646 means: Boost Control Solenoid Circuit (Except 4.0L & 4.6L)
P1646 is a fault in the heater or sensor of the upstream O2 sensor. It is the light grey plug on the firewall behind the engine and leads to the sensor unit itself on the rear bank exhaust pipe. A replacement sensor is between (UK) £65 and £120 depending on where you go. Beware of the generic 4 wire sensors as their specs are not quite up to Jaguar's. BTW. It's a b*tch to get to and you need a 22mm socket with a slot for the wires to go through.
