Same-sex marriage (or gay marriage) does have an effect on society; it's just a positive one. Gay couples have existed as long as human society has, and recognizing that they are equal to heterosexual couples and thus deserving of a legal marriage is one step towards ridding the world of prejudice.
A conservative answer is probably not. Since the secret society referred to as The Order of Illuminati has not existed since 1785, it is highly improbable that they are planning on doing anything. Just not possible.
