This is a double edged sword. The answer is both yes and no. The military tactics used in WWII have evolved, but to say they have improved could be overstepping. War is a process of change and evolution. It is everchanging. A perfect example of this is given by what are currently labeled "Insurgents" in Iraq. At the outset of the engagement, they were rather poorly set up or trained for a battle on any level. They have since learned the United States utilizes a "Strategic" concept of warfare. This concept favors manuevering and capturing of key assets over inflicing casualties on the enemy. The problems with this were quickly exploited by oppositional forces. Improvised Explosive Devices were introduced to disruprt supply lines and troop movements. The United States responded with armor for its trucks. The insurgents responded by recalibrating devices to take weak points on vehicles. The United States Adapted to this. Insurgents then expirimented with chemicals such as chlorine. Hence you see a steady pattern of evolution. Is it improvement? That depends. Improvement is a difficult word to define. If you define it as change, then yes, absolutely. If you define it as success, that's where it starts getting shady.

Since many Americans died in WW II, it is a bit peculiar to ask how the war improved American lives, however, it is true that because of the war, America became the world's dominant economic and military power, and the acknowledged leader of the free world. This lead to a period of prosperity and self-confidence. Even now, there is a certain power to the American economy, even though it has gotten into a lot of trouble and the future is looking very uncertain.
Since the United States spends almost as much money on its military as all the rest of the countries in the world combined, one might expect they are the strongest. Howevr if you measure strenght in terms of number of people in unifrom then China has the largest military, though they are not nerarly as well treianed or equipped as the US military.
This question is aqward since he did not do alot with the military exept for deciding where to attack. Many of his generals had diffrent tactics. Some where head on balls to the wall, and others were more secretive and were hard to find. That is what i have gotten from studying military tactics but it might be wrong so double check.
The range and accuracy of both musket and field cannons improved much since the revolutionary war (80 years prior) , however infantry tactics had not kept pace with these advances in weaponry.
