Americans lost. The total war loss is about three million killed and one million wounded in total.
If you are asking about U.S. servicemembers, the answer is 58,209. Of these, 47,424 were combat related with the remaining 10,875 dying of other causes. This information came from American War and Military Operations Casualties: Lists and Statistics, a report completed by Hannah Fischer, Knowledge Resources Group, updated July 13, 2005. This report was compiled for the United States Congress.

Answer The count I have from a book commemorating the Vietnam Wall says 59,127. Here are some figures I have found for Vietnam.
