It has to be because of Adolf Hitler because he put Germany in the sorry state it was in.
In World War 1 Germany had an "image problem" in most neutral countries and until 1917 this included the U.S. Germany was widely seen as undemocratic and as the aggressor.
the war would have happened, but it would have been way different (i believe) because japan was the one who started with it, not germany, so japan would have started a big war, but not as big as it was because of germany. and it would probably have ended before.

The quick answer is Germany. There are a lot of people who may or may not agree with that. The world was in a depression, and I'm sure there was a lot of finger pointing at the US. The pressure put upon Germany after World War 1 made it a tough place to be and when Hitler stepped into power and began talking about the Fatherland a lot of people listened. Ultimately the responsibility lies with the aggressor but I'm sure many other cases could be made.

The results of World War II did not include the end of political tensions throughout the world, as Western and Soviet policies were almost immediately seen to be at odds. Nevertheless, the world-conquering ambitions of two strong aggressor-nations, Germany and Japan, had been decisively defeated; thus, it may be safely said that, after World War II, the world was, indeed, better off.
Yes in the sense that it defended itself and its allies, however it was not the aggressor that started the war, WW2 was started by Hitler/Germany invading Poland.
hitler
The battle for the city of Stalingrad. They lost a whole army, suffered huge losses in men and equipment in that battle and where never really the aggressor after that battle. It has been regarded in history as the turning point in the war between the USSR and Germany
China did not start WWII. Japan was the aggressor in the Pacific and Germany in Europe. Japan invaded China in 1931, and the Chinese were badly defeated. The last Japanese army troops left China in 1945 at the end of the Second World war.
