The Japanese had very old weapons. In Europe, it was quite advanced technology but in Japan, the war was against a strong strong enemy. The battle in the pacific was not just harder, the Japanese were very good fighters in there homeland. The Japanese fell gradually though, because the army became so over confident that the government never thought about making more advanced weapons or advancing machinery. I mean there were barely ANY machine guns or sub machine guns going into mass production, the weapons were not very reliable. For example, to kill a tank coming in, the Japanese had to send in a guy with a small explosive to detonate the tank by setting off the explosive and KILLING himself. The Japanese also were very religious. And even though japan was very unadvanced, the soldiers had very little fear to die, they were told it was a HONOR to die even if it was a stupid way to. In conclusion, the battles of the pacific were fiercer and more airplane action than the Europe war.
World War Two was fought in the Pacific and the Atlantic and Western Europe and Eastern Europe (and Africa) at the same time. So technically the war was fought on many fronts. In Europe it was a two front war on the West and East side. When you consider the USA the war was fought on two sides of the nation in two different oceans and different countries so they considered it a two front war too.
What areas outside of Europe were affected by the war
The Kosovo War.
a free society was formed in Europe.
Britain did not want to weaken it's forces in Europe by sending troops to Vietnam.

The dropping of the atom bomb on Nagasaki on August 9, 1945 was all the Soviets needed to start their offensive in the Pacific.

America put an oil embargo on Japan because they were taking possessions of other countries to use them against their war with China. In response they bombed Pearl Harbor, and thus began the war in the pacific.
