WWI was a significant change for the role of women in society. With so many men leaving to fight in the war, many jobs had to be filled with women. In addition, a certain practicality began to change the fashions at that time, so skirts got shorter, corsets got looser, and clothes were much simpler.

They were treated well because so many soldiers left for war and the US was growing more with technology. So during this time women took over most of the work forces while the men were away whether it was preparing weapons for war, being a nurse, or just doing other needed jobs. (crops needed to be grown, store to be ran) Also women gained more independence afterwards.
