Official casualty figures for the Central Powers were Germany, 1,800,000 Austria-Hundary 1,290,000 Bulgaria 90,000 Turkey 375,000 All these, however, are minimum figures. Postwar researchers, who counted the casualties of individual German regiments, came to a total figure nearer 3 million, while the figure for Turkey is almost certainly far too low, given that the Ottoman regime was notoriously poor at record keeping, and many Turkish dead were simply never counted.
