Knights were sons of their lords whose life-time duty eventually was to serve and fight for them in whatever circumstance.
in the middle ages there were rich and poor knights
At first it was to protect farmers from invasions and later it was to protect the lords ( or barons ) land.
It means brave, splendid, daring, courageous, bold, dashing, plucky, valiant, civil, gracious, considerate, etc. etc. It was often used to describe knights in the middle ages.
The "Middle Ages" was not a period of currency per se. So to say how much were they paid is like asking how long does it take to catch a fish? It really depends on a lot of things, such as what does it mean to "catch a fish". well how to catch a fish you dike you get a rod and line and catch fish XD
Knights represented a relatively small percentage of society, typically around 1-2% of the population during the Middle Ages. They were part of the feudal system, serving as mounted warriors for nobles in exchange for land and protection. The majority of the population consisted of peasants and serfs who worked the land and supported the knights and nobility. Thus, knights held a significant but numerically limited role within the broader societal structure.
