Total deaths in motor vehicles in the US are roughly 2.5 to 3.5 million. The exact figure seems hard to locate. Deaths average about 45,000 per year since the 1950s. The total number killed in wars is about 1.4 million. The majority of those deaths were in WW2 and the Civil War.
In both cases the statistics are more accurate for recent times but not terribly accurate for early history. Before 1930 vehicle death reporting was pretty erratic.
