Bastogne, a small town in Belgium was the scene of intense combat during the Battle of the Bulge. The Germans were attacking the thin American lines in an attempt to reach Antwerp, in hope of cutting of Allied Supply lines. For this to be successful, they had to go through Bastogne which had major roadways passing through it. This battle was very important in halting the German advance, which was its last major offensive action of the war.
