Definitely. One of the Austrian immigrants, Jack Werner, was featured on World War II in HD show. He hated the Nazis. He joined the military and ended up in the Aleutian Islands to fight and in the Pacific theater. Other immigrants from places like Italy, Germany, Sweden, Norway, some Japanese Americans, Canada, Britain, South America and other places served in the US Forces. Many were used as translators in their unit. See added link below. OOPS. I typed in the wrong branch of service. Werner was in the US Army not the Marines.
No- Harding had no military service.

He got to enjoy his $71.33 per month (the average enlisted base pay).
Nearly any man drafted for the military does not want to go. If he did want to go into the military, he would have enlisted (volunteered) to begin with.
False - and many immigrants, primarily Irish, arriving in Northern ports were immediately enlisted into the Union Army
I could not find WHO was the youngest Australian soldier enlisted in the Army in World War 2. But, I can tell you there were plenty of teens as young as 15 who fraudulently joined the services in all the English speaking forces. In Germany there were tons of teens serving Hitler in the military. I have included a marvelous link about Australians in the war.
draft or enlisted

No- Harding had no military service.
You have enlisted my help in creating a sentence using the word enlisted. When the US entered World War II, many young men enlisted in the armed forces.
