YES there was it is the Cold War

Ah, I don't think that's very accurate. Many people died as direct result of The Cold War over the almost 40 years it lasted. This would include everything from people executed for "selling secrets", or being spies, to people being shot trying to cross The Iron Curtain, and everything in between. Many would have died in wars directly related to the concerns/conflicts of The Cold War (Eastern Communism vs Western Capitalism) such as Korea, Vietnam, etc.; basically anywhere where Soviet influence was deemed by American interests as being detrimental, and opposed accordingly. So, MANY people died during The Cold War. Cheers!
