technology that is developed meant to be used for military purpose only. example the gps navigation devices were at one point only used by the military.
Before sonar, the US used various acoustic detection methods, such as hydrophones and listening devices, to detect underwater objects and submarines. These methods relied on the amplification and interpretation of sound waves in water. Additionally, the US Navy also used other methods like visual observation and radar for above-water detection.
China was an ally in WWII. The AVG (American Volunteer Group, better known as the Flying Tigers) were based in China. The first B-29 Superfortress raids were launched from Chinese airfields. When the words "the bomb" is used, it normally refers to "the A-bomb", meaning the Atomic Bomb. Those devices weren't used against our ally...they were used against the enemy during WWII; Japan. Two were detonated: one on the city of Hiroshima and the other on Nagasaki in 1945. USA USA USA
Actually, there was a brief program to use bats to deliver incendiary devices to buildings in Japan. First researched by the US Army in March 1943, it was turned over to the US Navy in August that year and was named Project X-Ray after several hundred bats with devices attached escaped the research facility and set fire to the the Auxiliary Army Air Base at Carlsbad, New Mexico and a lot of landscape surrounding it. Small bats would be perched on racks that would be placed in bomb casings. When dropped from a plane, the casing opened and the bats scattered. The bats were to have small timed incendiary devices attached to them that would detonate and set fire to the buildings the bats perched in after dropped. both Army and Navy tests showed very high potential, but the program was scrapped after research into atomic weapons became more financially feasible.
Regular High Explosive aerial bombs cleared jungle better than anything else, of course they usually left a good sized bomb crater there too. But, for 40 yards surrounding that crater, it would be open ground (all dirt)...no vegetation. Napalm was used as a tactical weapon when dropped from US jet aircraft, in conjunction with rockets and cannon fire. US Navy River Monitors also used flame throwing devices, again, in conjunction with the Monitor's forword turret, which housed a 40mm cannon.
