Warsaw has been invaded multiple times throughout its history, with significant invasions occurring during the Swedish Deluge in the 17th century, the partitions of Poland in the late 18th century, and during both World Wars. The city faced particularly devastating invasions during World War II, including the Nazi invasion in 1939 and the subsequent Warsaw Uprising in 1944. Each of these events had profound impacts on the city's population and infrastructure. Overall, Warsaw's strategic location has made it a target for numerous military campaigns over the centuries.
Before World War I, Warsaw was part of the Russian Empire. It had been under Russian control since the late 18th century following the partitions of Poland, which divided the territory among Russia, Prussia, and Austria. Warsaw remained a significant cultural and political center for Polish nationalism even while under foreign domination.

Absolutely yes! The only exception, like any country of that period, would be the countryside. Warsaw itself had electric trams before World War I and by 1939 this system expanded to a length of 60km with 757 tram cars.
