An air war called the Battle of Britain between 10 July 1940 and 31 October 1940 prevented Operation Sealion from taking place. Germany failed to defeat the RAF and Fighter Command and was forced to scrap the planned invasion of Britain.

FranBasically, Hitler attempted to invade Britain with operation Sea lion, he sent his bombers and fighter planes to Britain in order to destroy the RAF. The only reason Hitler couldn't invade in the first place was because of Britain's air force so he needed to destroy it. The German planes came over and we sent our RAF lads up there with them and they had a series of violent dog fights. This was called the Battle of Britain. In the end, the Germans lost by losing the most amount of planes and went home. After that Hitler bombed various cities in Britain in the Blitz and after that never again tried to invade.
