What did people in World War 2 think of Hitler?

At the beginning of the war, German soldiers seemed to be genuinely on Hitler's side. They believed in him because he was able to turn around the German economy, and make things better for the German people. By the end of the war, however, most of the German soldiers, and especially the leaders, realized that Hitler had gotten them into an impossible war.

Some people hated Hitler.Most Americans, especially due to Propaganda, hated him, he was generally depicted as a loudmouthed buffoon in American transcripst, though he was actually a rather brilliant leader, if not a misguided one. Despite his atrocities, he was able to ignite passions in his peoples' hearts and get them to willingly fight for him, they greatly respected him. Many Germans though, thought of him in a similar fashion to the Americans, but they were oftentimes afraid to speak about this in public to avoid crackdown and charges of treason and herecy. He was feared by people the world over actually, especially those of the Jewish community, who had certainley heard of his concentration camps and the slaughter of their brothers and sisters.
