The only compulsory item was your gas mask. Most people also took blankets and food and drink. they would probably take clothes aswell

there where two air raid shelters one was the Morrison shelter which looked like a table the other was the Anderson shelter which was underground

Anderson shelters are air raid shelters. They were made from six corrugated iron sheets bolted together at the top with steel plates at either end, and were half buried in the ground with earth heaped on top to protect them from bomb blasts.
You needed to take a gas mask in case their was a gas attack.
Get out of the house, take my air raid mask with me if i have one, go outside in the streets and look for shelter signs to find a shelter.
