The Battle of Fallen Timbers, fought on August 20, 1794, was a decisive conflict between the United States forces led by General Anthony Wayne and Native American tribes affiliated with the British. The U.S. victory effectively ended Native American resistance in the Northwest Territory. The Treaty of Greenville, signed in 1795, followed this battle and established peace, with Native American tribes ceding significant portions of present-day Ohio and other territories to the U.S. government in exchange for goods and recognition of their remaining lands.
