Balmoral Castle, located in Scotland, was primarily constructed using local granite, which gives it its distinctive appearance. The stone was sourced from nearby quarries, and the castle features various architectural styles, including Scottish baronial. Additionally, timber was used for roofing and interior finishes, while slate was employed for roofing materials. The combination of these materials contributes to the castle's integration into the Scottish landscape.

The AUSTRALIAN FSB's Coral & Balmoral (Fire Support Bases; referred to as "Firebases"), were quickly built during the 1968 TET Offensive, just north of the South Vietnamese Capital. Australian Centurian tanks & M-113's (APC/Armored Personnel Carriers) of the Royal Australian Armoured Corps, reinforced Australian Infantrymen & 105mm Field Guns that were under siege at Firebases Coral & Balmoral, which were only about 2 miles apart from each other. The combined NVA/VC attacks were beaten back by the Australian mounted forces. Firebase Coral had been over-run, with ONE field gun taken, but was recaptured later. This battle was considered larger than the Australian's fight at Long Tan. See Book: "The Battle of Coral. Vietnam Fire Support Base Coral and Balmoral 1968."
