Because of this Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia, through alliances the outcome was Britian, France, and Russia against Germany, Austria-hungary, The Ottoman Empire (present day Turkey), and Bulgaria - making it a global war.

3) Germany's kaiser wanted more power and was keen for war.
