So Austria invaded Serbia, and Russia was an ally of Serbia, so Russia supported Serbia and attacked Austria. At the end of World War 1, the Treaty of Versailles was signed and Germany was heavily accused of starting World War 1, so they lost a lot of land to Russia, and had their money taken away. So they invaded other countries near them. But the world was in the Great Depression, and a war would be horrible to the World's economy. So they appeased, or let, Germany invade these countries, saying that if they invaded one more country, they were going to start a war. On September 3rd, 1939, Germany invaded Poland and World War 2 began. The United States entered in 1941 because the Japanese Empire, who were allies with the Germans, attacked Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. A U.S. Naval base was there, and most of the United States Naval Ships were there. And many were destroyed. This happened on December 7th, 1941. The United States entered the Pacific Theater to stop Japan immediately, but invaded Europe on D-Day on June 6th, 1944. At that time, Germany had taken control of France. So we invaded France and pushed the Germans out.
