The "Roman-Persian Wars", It began with the Roman conquest of Parthia in 92 BC and lasted until the final war of the Byzantium and the Sassanid Eran-Shahr in 627 AD. This series of conflicts which lasted more than 700 years became the longest war between two entities in all of history, until it eventually came to an end with the Arab Muslim conquests of the 7th century.

However, the longest SINGULAR war, and not series of wars, was the Hundred Years' War, officially lasting from 1337 (when war was declared) to 1475 (when the treaty was signed) and the majority of conflict lasting from 1328 (when the French King died leaving no sons, and the English King put forth his claim) to 1453 (when Bordeaux was recaptured by France, ending Europe's fighting). So the Hundred Years' War between the English and France lasted 138 years officially, or 125 years of actual conflict between the two nations.

Europeans might answer with the "Hundred Years War" between France and Britain in the 14th and 15th centuries.

Americans might differ with that with the American Indian Wars which occurred between 1622 all the way throught 1890 (ending at the battle of Wounded Knee in 1890).

No, the Afghanistan is officially the longest war in American history. It began October 7, 2001 and has not ended yet. Before that, the Vietnam war was the longest war in American history. It lasted 103 months. World War I lasted 4 years and about three months (28 July 1914 - 11 November 1918). Others claim the Korean War is the longest because it never officially ended, we only signed a cease fire with them.

The longes war in American history was?

The Revolutionary War was the longest at about 8 years. It is important to note that we have not actually been at war since 1945. Our Congress doesn't declare war any longer, though it is believed that they still do have the sole power to do so, according to the Constitution. The longest military fighting would be the collective battles and massacres of the Native Americans, which started before our nation was a nation, and ended towards the end of the 19th century, which would have it at a century, at least. The longest military fighting against a specific people in a consistent and enduring fashion was the Vietnam conflict at anywhere from 12 to 16 years depending upon how one classifies "hostilities" and "military involvement".

Which war is the longest war in human history?

The Afghan war was the longest in American history with constant conflict. The Third Punic War is-technically-the longest war in human history, lasting 2134 years.Another View:The question was not about American history, but human history. It is nonsense to talk of the Carthaginians being 'technically' still at war today, when they were sold off into slavery at the end of the Third Punic War in 146 BCE and ceased to exist as a city, country or people. We do have The Hundred Years War 1337 to 1453 CE between England and France. In earlier times we had the Persian Wars 499-449 BCE.
