Who fought mainly a defensive war during the civil war?

During the American Civil War, the Confederacy primarily fought a defensive war. Their strategy focused on protecting their territory and resources while attempting to outlast the Union's will to fight. Confederate generals, such as Robert E. Lee, often sought to leverage their knowledge of the terrain and the support of local populations to repel Union advances. This defensive posture was aimed at preserving their way of life and securing independence for the Southern states.

The military plan used by the north to win the civil war?

The Confederate's plan to win the Civil War was defensive. they would stay on their own territory and wait for the Union to get tired of fighing them and surrender. the Union's plan to win the Civil War was to attack. they did go on to Confederate land, but lost many of the battles because theyre general (general McClennan) waasn't aggressive enough, and he evntually got replaced with another general that Lincoln selected. who do you think was right in the Civil War? I'll answer that! the Union of course! slavery was wrong!

Why did Reconstruction succeed during the Civil War?

Reconstruction did not occur during the Civil War. Reconstruction was after the terrible destruction of the war. And reconstruction was not entirely successful, despite what that chapter in the history book tells you. Reconstruction first started with lincolns plan. It failed. Congress then tried a plan, but Lincoln pocket vetoed it. Johnston then tried a plan, but failed, then congress came up with a new plan and suceeded.
