Kristallnacht or the Night of Broken Glass was an anti-Jewish pogrom in Nazi Germany and Austria on 9 to 10 November 1938. It was triggered by the assassination in Paris of German diplomat Ernst vom Rath by Herschel Grynszpan, a German-born Polish Jew. In a coordinated attack on Jewish people and their property, 91 Jews were murdered and 25,000 to 30,000 were arrested and placed in concentration camps. 267 synagogues were destroyed, and thousands of homes and businesses were ransacked

Kristallnacht -i.e. "Crystal night". Comes from night of broken glass. Broken glass of shop windows resembled crystals in the moonlight.

Why did Adolf Hitler consider him self a German if he was Jewish?

Answer 1Because Hitler was NOT Jewish. One can be German AND Jewish. Hitler was Austrian anyway....While it is wholly possible to be German and Jewish or Austrian and Jewish, Hitler was Austrian and NOT Jewish. There is a rumor that he was Jewish, but there is no support to this rumor.Answer 2Whether Adolf Hitler was Jewish or not; it is to be recognized that it is the nationality to be German or not German while it is the faith to be Jewish or not Jewish. One can be German or Austrian while he/she is Christian, Jewish, or Muslim. One should not mix between nationality and religious faith.

What happened to German Jews in 1938 when the national socialists organized a 'program' known as 'Kristallnacht'?

It all happened on November 9, 1938 when violence against Jews broke out across the Reich. It appeared to be unplanned anger over the assassination of a German official in Paris at the hands of a Jewish teenager but the fact was that German propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels and other Nazis carefully organized the pogroms. The morning after, German Jewish men were arrested for the crime of being Jewish and sent to concentration camps.
