France, Russia, Great Britain, Canada, and The United States were part of the "Allies."

The other side comprised mostly of Germany, but also Austrio-Hungary, Turkey and Italy.

Belgium was neutral, but the Germans had to go through it to invade France, following the Schleiffen Plan.
