The financial effects of the Manhattan Project were two fold. The bombs cost over two billion dollars to build back then. There were residual costs of helping Japanese people who were harmed by the bomb and there is still a team of scientists studying the effects of the bomb and following the care of the injured and sick people affected by radiation sicknesses and cancers and burns.
Another affect of the project was an improvement in the economy of the United States and a small area of Canada. It provided thousands of jobs and many of the workers put money away and were able to improve their lives after the war with their savings.
The worst effect however were the trillions of dollars spent after World War 2 on the silly arms race during the Cold War. If the bomb had not been created the arms race may not have occurred, but who knows perhaps it would have happened in later years.
