Lee, occurred at the McLean Home in the village of Appomattox Court House, Virginia on April 8, 1865. However, the next major surrender, which was equally if not more significant, was at the Bennett Farm just outside of Durham, North Carolina on April 26, 1865 between General Johnston and Major General Sherman, in which 4 Southern states (FL, GA, SC, NC), which included the Army of Tennessee and some 89,270 Confederate soldiers. There were three other major surrenders which occurred in Citronelle, AL, New Orleans, LA, and Doaksville, OK.
