The Underground Resistance people in all the European nations hid in various places if the resistance persons had need to hide.
They would hide in plain sight sometimes, such as in business locations or farms or homes. They would move their meeting sites from place to place. They chose places where they were least likely to been seen by the Nazis or nosy neighbors who wold turn them in to the Gestapo.
The Resistance people hid downed pilots and aircrews in farms, homes, businesses, natural earth hideouts (caves, etc.), empty bombed out places and the forest.
The Underground Resistance would even use vehicles to hide some people or themselves. They had been known to hide themselves or evaders in horse drawn carts carrying supplies or hay or straw or alfalfa. There were even some people who were hidden in coffins and transported to a specific location.
Some escaped or hid on ships, boats, and barges. The vessels would be equipped with trap doors which the Gestapo rarely found.
The Resistance folk were cleaver and did their best to be covert and successful at not being caught. Sometimes a dog would sniff them out or a collaborator would turn them in to the Nazi Gestapo (police).
