Totally Russia, Russian soldiers were giving their all, while America, Japan and other countries were sitting there, scratching their head about whether or not do something about it. Russian people were going, fighting with no army skill, sometimes even barefoot. Russian citizens were having there food stolen, family and friends, killed, their homes blasted, while America had only 1 time a bomb dropped on their soil. Now, I'm not saying that Russia did it alone, no. They had America and most of Europe. But Russia defended themselves to the end, and not only did they Chase Germans of their land, but they marched right over to Berlin an put their flag in the square. I'm saying this as a very proud Russian.

Russia suffered the most casualties in World War I, with estimates of military and civilian deaths ranging from 1.8 to 2.5 million. Compared to what? Total American casualties in WW1 were significantly lower than either WW2 or the US Civil War, and the casualty rate (number of casualties suffered per 100,000 deployed) was lower than most wars Americans fought in during the 1800s. American casualty rates were comparable to (though slightly higher than) British or French rates during the same time period.
The British had suffered more than one thousand casualties out of the 2,300 or so who fought.
Both George S Patton's units suffered casualties, generally no more than any other outfits. The US Marines suffered heavy casualties per unit at Iwo Jima in '45, General Buckner's 10th Army suffered heavy casualties at Okinawa, Admiral Turner's heavy cruisers suffered terribly at Savo Island in '42. Patton's son George S. Patton commanding the 11th ACR in Vietnam named his numerous gardens after men of his commmand killed in the war.
