The first recorded use of the word holocaust in the sense of genocide dates from 1942 but it was rarely used. It is said that Elie Wiesel popularized the word in its modern sense in the late 1950s. However, it didn't become widely used till the late 1970s following the first broadcast of the TV miniseries entitled Holocaust.
When written with a lower-case "h," the word "Holocaust" refers to devastation and destruction that are immense and total, especially due to fire. The word comes from Greek "holokaustos" where "holo-" means "whole" and "kaustos" means "burnt."
When capitalized, the word "Holocaust" refers to the persecution and murder of six million people (overwhelmingly Jewish but also including other groups such as Roma (Gypsies), homosexuals, Jehova's Witnesses, communists, Slavs, and other people) perpetrated by the Nazi Dictatorship in Germany in the 1930s and 1940s. The term "Holocaust" was used originally because of the use of gas chambers and ovens to burn the murdered victims' bodies.
In modern English, the term "holocaust" can now also refer generally to any mass slaughter of human beings, but the word's main modern connotation is of the Holocaust in Europe.
-------------------------------------------------------
Holocaust means :- great destruction resulting in the extensive loss of life, especially by fire.
This is what happened to the Jews in Nazi Germany, they were killed in great numbers (millions) and their bodies were burnt and the scale of this event has meant that the word's use is now extended to mean this genocide of European Jews and others by the Nazis during World War II.

i have no idea. somebody please answer it for me!!
When 5-star general Dwight D. Eisenhower witnessed the liberation of Ohrdruf concentration camp, he knew people would deny it and he wanted the entire camp filmed. Today, there are some people who deny the Holocaust; all of them are anti-Semitic and hate Jews for one reason or another.
As an opinion there are only subtle differences in the holocaust and the twin towers. Both were directed at one group of people, the holocaust at the Jews and the twin towers at Americans. The holocaust was not a religious matter and neither was twin towers. Twin towers attack was on the idea of our nation, the freedom and choice we are offered in america, and our strength. Twin Towers highlights the definition of a terrorist attack. "the deliberate attack on innocent civilians for no apparent reason but dislike."
Holocaust victims.
The Holocaust suggested that earlier idea about progress was not true.
The term holocaust was first used in biblical writings. Holocaust means a sacrifice. OLD testament
The Holocaust suggested that earlier idea about progress was not true.

The general idea behind the Holocaust was ethnic cleansing. Hitler hoped to create a perfect race by eliminating those who did not fit his idea of perfection.

The 'majority of the people' were not asked or even informed about the Holocaust.
Isaac Newton came up with the idea of who invented gravity.
yes Hitler thought the holocaust was a good idea because then that way he could get rid of the whole race he was trying to get rid of in the first place but in a faster and easier way.
You can't as the holocaust did not actually happen. It was invented by Jews to create pity for them as another ordeal they endured for their "god".
Israel - but the idea that it was created 'in response to the holocaust' needs very careful scrutiny.
