Are you asking about placing a "playing card...ACE OF SPADES, etc." on dead bodies? Yes, some men did those things, usually not in the presence of officers though. Not a terribly bad violation of the rules of war...but it was associated with "bad karma" (bad luck). Men and units that did those things (and worse) often met with "bad luck."
And if any man doesn't believe in luck (or God)...odds are good he's never been in a real war.
