Women on both sides of the war did many things, including caring for the sick and injured, and carrying supplies to camps that would be sent to the front lines.
In many cases, especially WWI and WWII, some women took over their husband's jobs while they were gone so they could still support themselves or their family. In rare cases, women were front line medics and soldiers!
Although many women were front line medics and soldiers, most women carried supplies to camps and helped care for the sick and injured.
