Hitler became dictator of Germany and secretly rebuilt the German armed forces (the treaty of Versailles at the end of WW1 did not allow Germany to have a large armed force) Germany then invaded Poland and the Sudetenland to reclaim land that Germany had lost during WW1. The Allies (Britain, France and USA) did not agree with this and declared war on Germany to stop their expansion into other countries.
