It was siesta time
Sam Houston and his army defeated Santa Anna at The Battle of San Jacinto because Santa Anna told his army that they could take a siesta because Santa Anna had not seen very much activity at Sam Houston's base.

Santa Anna attributed his defeat at the Battle of San Jacinto to several factors, including his underestimation of the Texian forces and the element of surprise that the Texians employed. He also cited the exhaustion of his troops, who were unprepared for a sudden attack after a long march. Additionally, he mentioned the lack of proper reconnaissance and intelligence, which left his army vulnerable. Ultimately, he recognized that overconfidence and miscalculation played significant roles in his defeat.
The Battle of San Jacinto resulted in the capture of 730 Mexican soldiers.
