The obvious candidate is China. If you are in the US currently, and this will concern you, look at the 20th century and the rise of the US. At the turn of the 1900s the US was still a very minor player internationally. WW1 came & went & the US played a part in defeating Germany in France. By the time WW2 comes the US is a colossus and a massive force in the war both in Europe & in the Pacific. The US is top of the tree & is then rivalled only by the Soviet Union until its collapse & then Russia comes into its own. China in the 21st Century is beginning as a small player internationally, but you can see the rise of a great nation in being. It used to say on many many product 'Made in England' or 'Made in Great Britain' & now everything is made in China & Chinas growth seems, at the moment, unstoppable. Watch this space, by the end of the 21st century China will be the greast player in world affairs, of course that remains to be seen, but the model of what happend to the US in the 20th century will be eclipsed. One just hopes they can get there without another 2 world wars getting in the way !

"China will overtake the United States to become the world's largest economy by 2038 if current growth rates continue," and that China's nominal GDP will likely overtake that of Japan by 2009 or 2010. China has established its presence as a superpower along with the European Union and the United States. China's rise is demonstrated by its ballooning share of trade in its gross domestic product. The Next Superpower argues that while the potential for China is high, this is fairly perceived only by looking at the risks and obstacles China faces in managing its population and resources. The political situation in China may become too fragile to survive into superpower status according to Susan Shirk in China: Fragile Superpower. Other factors that could constrain China's ability to become a superpower in the future include: limited supplies of energy and raw materials, questions over its innovation capability, inequality and corruption, and risks to social stability and the environment. Minxin Pei does not believe that China is a superpower or that it will be one anytime soon arguing that it faces daunting political and economic challenges.Amy Chua states that whether a country has enough pull to bring immigrants is an important quality for a superpower. She also writes that China lacks the pull to bring scientists, thinkers, and innovators from other countries as immigrants. However, she believes that China has made up for this with its own diaspora, saying that size and resources for them are unparalleled.

There have been contentions that until China becomes a democracy, they can not rise to true superpower status. China's one party system of government has allowed for China to grow at unprecedented rates, but still they have not been able to grant fundamental freedom's to their people, like the freedom to vote, or the freedom of speech.

Probably not!

The United States are the most economic powerful countries in the world and is very difficult for China to replace US.

Maybe after 30-40 years.

When did the US become a world superpower?

The US was considered a superpower after World War II, when the European powers declined, partly because of the loss of their colonies to independence movements. The war similarly sparked the advance of the Soviet Union to superpower status, and the Maoist takeover did the same for China. Whether the US currently shares superpower status with China is debatable, but China does not yet have an equal international presence. China (and most of Asia) has benefitted substantially from trade with the United States. The beginning of US worldwide influence dates from the Spanish American War, which brought it the Philippines and increased trade in the Pacific.

When will Israel become the world's superpower?

Answer 1Within 2 to 3 years.Answer 2No. Israel will not become the world's superpower as it does not have the political, economic, social, or military capital to expand beyond its borders in any meaningful way in the near future. It looks relatively clear that China will become the next superpower if current trends continue. Israel will certainly continue to be a regional power in the Middle East for at least another decade, but its influence will not expand.
