There is no such airplane as an F-15 "Topcat". The F-15 "Eagle" was produced by McDonnell-Douglas and sold to the United States Air Force, as well as Israel, Saudi Arabia and Japan. However, Grumman Aircraft did produce the F-14 "Tomcat", a supersonic variable-wing fighter/interceptor. It was sold primarily to the United States Navy, and some were also sold to Iran before the Islamic revolution in 1979. Beginning in the late 1990's U.S. Navy squadrons flying F-14's were either disbanded or their Tomcats were replaced with F/A-18 Hornets. Although Iran could no longer purchase spare parts from the United States the Iranian Air Force managed to keep some of it's F-14's flying by using or modifying components from other aircraft and manufacturers for use in the F-14.
