It is an airplane flown by the United States during the Vietnam war and after it.

The F-4 was a 2-seat fighter aircraft, powered by 2 engines. It was a large aircraft that almost had a delta wing but it had horizontal elevators that were angled down at a sharp angle.

The F-4 was probably the first fighter jet that was intended to be designed so that it could be used by both the US Air Force and the US Navy. Both branches of service did fly this a/c. After the first batch or so, the decision was made to remove the guns/cannons from the fighter---making it the first fighter jet to be armed only with rockets and missiles. Versions of it were later sold and operated by UK and other countries.
