Always a difficult question, but the fairest answer is: Britain and France.
During the First World War, both countries carried out experiments with caterpillar tractors, at first to see if they could be used to tow heavy guns across difficult ground. Gradually, the idea of an armoured fighting vehicle arose from these trials, and designs were drawn up during 1915 and 1916. Both France and Great Britain began manufacturing tanks in early 1916. The British were the first to use tanks in battle, in September of the same year.
Air tanks were invented to hold compressed air.
The first functional battle tanks were invented in 1915
Fish tanks were not 'discovered' they were invented.
