i'm from Montana, and i built this in my back yard. i had my kids and me dig a hole in the back yard one night. it worked good, except the water was always cold, so we'd boil water and put it in the jacuzzi, but that took a while, so we'd heat up charcoal and throw it in. that worked a little better. after a few days the water would clean itself by soaking into the ground. we always had a hose draped over to refill it. halfway from the tap, halfway from boiled water. works great! but what you might want to do is a better job.
