Three hundred pounds is not really very much weight. Two adults standing in one spot on the floor above are heavier than that. If you are really concerned, you could always pick up two support columns at one of the big box stores, and position them on either side of the area you are working in, just for added measure. More consequential is the manner in which you are connecting the hoist to the truss. You wouldn't want to rip a piece out of the truss' lower area, as that would *seriously* affect its load bearing capacity. Make sure to mount it in such a manner that distributes the load across a good couple of inches along the truss' length, and preferably through small holes located in the upper third of the truss' height. If in question regarding positioning and max size of such holes, refer to local electrical and Plumbing codes regarding placing holes in supporting beams.
