Modeling is a job and an art. But, when it comes down to it, modeling isn't that useful. It's basically used for...

1.Advertising.

2.Music Videos.

3.Magazines.

4.Advertise certain brand of clothing.

5.CD covers.

This helps the media. It can pay well depending on how popular you are.

Unfortunately some models become anorexic and/or bulimic because they have to maintain a certain weight and/or body figure. Some people and models themselves can feel self-conscious and not good enough.

Of course, there are some plus sized models and plenty that have a different beauty. Though, they aren't always very popular.

In my opinion, if there were no more models, it really wouldn't matter. In order to advertise you don't even have to be a model and the people that are usually on magazines are celebrities who have a simple photo shoot. Generally, the public is more attracted to products that are advertised by celebrities anyways.

Hope this answers your question.
